Holy Spirit Episcopal

Media Url
As part of the Soundings Project, Holy Spirit designed and tested a multi-stage process to guide congregants in discerning their callings. From welcoming new guests to offering spiritual coaching and small groups, the church is building a path that leads individuals toward a Spirit-led life of Christian service.

Information about Holy Spirit Episcopal's Congregational Project

Holy Spirit Episcopal wanted to build and test a process that helps people discern their vocation.

At the beginning of this process, Holy Spirit Episcopal welcomes new guests and follows up with them afterward, ultimately inviting repeated guests to discern where God is calling them to serve. In the next stages of the process, Holy Spirit offers meetings that 1) unpack the identity and calling of the congregation, 2) probe Episcopal faith and practice, and 3) explore the spiritual life.

On an ongoing basis, Holy Spirit also offers one-on-one spiritual coaching and small groups to help people discern how God is moving in them and calling them. The goal is to lead people into a lifetime of Christian service, equipping them with an integrated, growing, and joyful life that is led by the Spirit.

Toward the end of the process, Holy Spirit Episcopal plans to compose a document describing this process for the benefit of other churches.
