The Soundings Project
The Soundings Project set out with a bold and hopeful vision: to listen attentively for God's calling in today's world and to do so together. Over the course of seven years, through deep collaboration between Baylor University and a diverse group of congregations across Texas, the project became a living testimony to the transformative power of Christian friendship and shared vocation.
Impact of the Soundings Project
Scripture is filled with stories of God’s call, such as Isaiah’s vision where grace restores him and he responds, “Here am I. Send me.” Through a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., the Soundings Project at Baylor partnered with 12 Texas congregations who, in the face of pandemic, unrest, and loss, chose reconciliation, healing, and growth over withdrawal. Large and small, across diverse traditions, they discovered a shared calling rooted in love of God and neighbor, strengthening faith within their communities while building bridges outward.
