First Presbyterian Amarillo

First Baptist Church and First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo have partnered through the Soundings Project to help their congregations explore the deep connection between Sunday worship and weekday vocation. Together, they have developed Bridges, a shared initiative that fosters intergenerational conversations about faith, purpose, and calling, encouraging members to see their daily work as an expression of their Christian mission.

A member of ECO, a Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians, the congregation is committed to the centrality of the gospel, the importance of raising up leaders and building community, and the pursuit of constructive innovation in service to the mission. Pastor Howard Griffin has served at the church since 2010.

Information about First Presbyterian's Congregational Project

First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo wanted to help every member fully function in his or her calling and gifts, joining in the work God is doing in and through them to grow the Kingdom of God.

The planning team spent several years studying and reflecting on vocation, including through partnerships with other ministries and congregations, and is launching training sessions to help participants see their entire lives as a calling from God to be God’s instruments in growing the Kingdom.
